Gospel Artist ChoirBoi Cam Shares His Personal Story About the New Project Growing Pains

This project, “Growing Pains” places me out in front of my struggle found in transitioning from adolescence to adulthood. I acknowledge the issues and all the pitfalls, but with extreme faith I have tried to keep a good handle on them.  “The lead single “Growing Pains” is a song that encourages me every day! It’s a constant reminder that God has got me even when it doesn’t feel like it”. “Growing Pains” is my most personal project to date to let me share with you how I arrived at this place.

In 2017 I was officially nominated for The Stellar Award’s Youth Project of the Year for the, “The Destiny Project.” I was super excited to be nominated but, in the end, I did not win the award. I returned home with from Las Vegas to face high school graduation without knowing in which direction life would take me next. Shortly thereafter, I was presented with the opportunity to work with Producer Billy Dorsey. He had done work on Lecrae’s Grammy Award Winning Project “Rehab”.  Attempting to make my next Stellar run I traveled out to Houston, Texas to meet and record with Dorsey.

August 2017 proved to be full of transition for the me. I entered college as a Freshman at Anderson University where I was granted a scholarship to run track, cross country and to sing in their Gospel Choir. Running 15 miles a day, excelling academically and my new project was the focus. Only weeks later Houston would be devastated by natural disaster Hurricane Harvey. The studio where I had recorded was now under water and so was my project. The only remnants of the project left were scratch vocals that had been emailed to me by Dorsey. Desperate to salvage the project. Dorsey and I would come together in South Carolina only weeks before Stellar Award submissions to release an EP. After juggling 5am cross country practices, classes, 3pm long runs and the the studio; I was exhausted, and it showed in my voice. The title Against the Wall would derive from this process.

Her debut single titled ‘’Deserved’’ produced by EzyJ Productions, was released in October 2017 and ranked number 8 on the UK Christian Chart of the same year. Deserved, is her testimony of overcoming tough times, various life challenges and still finding favour and grace from God. 2019 is an exciting year for Ejiro’s music as her 7-track debut EP titled “The Beginning” produced by Dan Stirling Audio and featuring a collaboration with MOBO award nominee Andrew Bello is scheduled for online release on February 2nd. Followed by an official music concert launch in April 2019.

Her debut EP “The Beginning”, looks at her journey as a believer from a young age. Faced with some acute family crisis and her mother’s struggle with a severe health condition, worship and prayers became her hiding place and therapy. This helped her appreciate life and look forward to a purposeful future in Christ. Through the years, God has spoken to her in dreams and visions about His calling on her life to minister to the lost and hurting through worship. This brought about her lifelong desire to lead worship. It gave her a purpose and at the age of 10, she joined her church choir and the rest is history. During an interview with Premier Gospel Radio UK, Ejiro said:

“The message I always want to get across to people with my music is that we’re not defined by our past or circumstances. We’re defined by our own destiny and knowing who we are.  Believing that we can do all things regardless of where we’re from or what we’ve been through. Dreams can only be a reality if we are bold enough to step up to the task. My prayer is that as people listen to my music, God will birth a new beginning in their lives. A renewed boldness to step out in faith and become something greater than what they ever imagined”

In 2018, Ejiro had the privilege to work with the reputable UK music production company Elegance Management and MOBO award-winning singer/songwriter and vocal coach Rachel Kerr. They have worked together to produce an outstanding album due for release in the summer of 2019. The highly anticipated album is sure to dazzle, impact lives and achieve great outcomes.

Ejiro is not just a brilliant worshipper but also a highly intelligent career woman. As a qualified Biochemist, she also re-trained as a Midwife at the University of Manchester and is in the process of setting up a sponsorship programme that focuses on mentoring youths to be actively involved in charitable causes within their community. Most importantly, Ejiro is happily married and blessed with three adorable children.

Christa Deánā (Duh-nay) is a Christian Singer/Songwriter from Philadelphia who sings with conviction and power. Her songs speak to the journey of a woman after God's own heart. Each song is deeply rooted in a personal, yet extremely vulnerable relationship with God. After experiencing bullying and depression, she used music as a coping mechanism. Additionally, seeing the issues and their effects on lives through the eyes of a high school music teacher,  she is motivated to continuously write songs that encourage and give H.O.P.E. (Health, Optimism, Power, and Experience) It's the beauty and emotion in her voice and the candor in her lyrics that help inspire others to go all the way, every day, with God.

Dedicating herself to music as a child,  Christa Deana began singing in church at 5 years old, performed her first original song at 11, and went on to write over 100 more. Her vocal ability also developed young, securing her lead oratorios from classics such as Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and more. In addition to writing and singing, she has toured with several choirs that took her to Romania, Turkey, France, Spain, England, and all over the US. During this journey she found a love for conducting and excelled as a choir director for several choirs.

Christa Deánā inherited perfect pitch, excellent natural timing, and a powerful vocal instrument. A creative soul, she’s been diligent to cultivate her gifts, obtaining her B.S. in Music Education degree from the University of Valley Forge.

Christa Deánā is the CEO of ChristaCourt Productions, an independent music production company that produces her original music along with other upcoming artists. She works alongside her husband, Zichari Young (Young One), to provide music arrangement and production services, "leading artists from inspiration to production." As she continues to perform and promote her self-entitled album with all new original music, she's ecstatic for what's ahead. Kevin Ray Nichols is Christian Contemporary artist with a desire to bring encouragement of God's Word through music.

Kevin Ray has been a worship leader in the church since 2006 across several countries including the Middle East during his time in the U.S. Air Force, and has been writing Christian Contemporary praise and blues songs; passionate in using his spiritual gifts in encouragement and discernment together with writing music in an experience that is heartfelt and Spiritual-led.

Kevin Ray Nichols’ current album, "God Is My Song," releasing in January 2019, is one he’s really excited about. It’s the one he’s been wanting to write; the one Kevin Ray wanted to be his first album, but music has a way of expressing our soul in its present state. He’s appropriately titling his sophomore album, “God Is My Song.” This album is full of songs Kevin's heart needed to hear right now. His heart poured out songs he didn’t think were there. The original title idea was going to be “A Joyful Noise,” but it came to pass that many of these songs are more worshipful in the Christian Contemporary vein and express some hurt, struggles, and imperfectness; which point to God who is the Healer, Comforter, and Perfect in all His ways. So the joyfulness comes in knowing God is holding Kevin Ray Nichols - AND YOU - close everyday in every time. That’s when he realized that “God is my strength and my song” (Psalm 118:14). You can hear singles from this upcoming album NOW on Spotify and other streaming media including, "Triumph & Tragedy" and "Old Rugged Cross."

Kevin Ray’s 2017 debut album, “Dreams Come True” told a musical journey from top to bottom; from his “beginnings” writing music with my brother, seeing “Dreams Come True” in his gracious marriage to his wife and seeing the miracle of birth in his daughters, to being “Restored” by God and being “Baptized” in the East China Sea in 2007 during his Air Force tour to Japan. Kevin now looks toward the future in his “always being restored" life with Jesus Christ, when one day the “Train Goin’ Home” will carry him through the “Rapture” on his way to Heaven. KRN prays that this journey inspires you and brings you closer to living your life for the one True God.
